10 Films Which Accidentally Predicted The Future

9. Batman Logos In Nolan's Films - Following And Memento

Before Christopher Nolan was asked to reboot the Batman franchise in 2005's Batman Begins, he had already directed three fairly small scale films which were critically (if not quite yet publicly) adored.

Of these films it is interesting to observe that his first two, Following and Memento, both feature a Batman logo in the background seeming to predict his involvement with the DC hero. Considering that the idea of helming the Dark Knight trilogy was a million miles away from Nolan as he made his debut film Following on a ridiculously small budget of $6,000 over one year, it is remarkable that this iconic Batman symbol appears on the door of an apartment.

Nolan explained that the film used his apartment due to the limited budget and that he had put the Batman sticker on his door in 1989 after watching - and being a fan of - Tim Burton's Batman. It is also possible to see a Batman symbol in a background shop window during one scene in his second indie hit Memento which was another tribute to the caped crusader.

Little did he know that this symbol which he plastered around his early films would come to define him later on his career...
