Cast: Josh Brolin, Michael Fassbender, Megan Fox, John Malkovich Slow West may not be a bona fide classic, but at least it proved Westerns can still sort of work into the 21st century. Before that, audiences had to endure a run of real turkeys: Wild, Wild West and Cowboys vs. Aliens to name just a few. One film that seemed to have a chance of reinvigorating the cowboy genre was Jonah Hex. Warner Bros. sourced their movie from DC comics in order to give it a modern edge, and laced it with some great acting talent. Audiences tentatively hoped this would give the Western the kick up the backside it sorely needed. The Reality The end result was disappointing however. The decision to include Megan Fox is a perfect example of the dangers of when producers get money signs in their eyes, even if they know including such an actor is bound to hurt the integrity of the film. Instead of an edgy Western for a modern age, we get silly, made-up superpowers and Megan Fox-based innuendo. A missed opportunity and another failed attempt to convert comics into cinema.
