10 Films You Must Never Watch With Your Parents
10. Antichrist
Starting with one of the most extreme films on the list, Antichrist is an intense watch at the best of times. Directed by Lars von Trier, a man who appears to delight in courting controversy (he did, after all, once get kicked out of Cannes for declaring himself a Nazi and stating he sympathised with Hitler), the film is a no holds barred experience.
Starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg as a married couple, the film opens with their son falling out a window while they have sex. And that's the tamest element of the film. The couple retreat to a cabin in the woods (oh there you are you old horror trope) where things get steadily worse and worse; the environment itself becomes increasingly aggressive while Gainsbourg (who's character is credited as She) slowly slips into misogynistic insanity. This gives us scenes of her masturbating Dafoe's He until he bleeds, him beating a crow that won't silence, her severing her clitoris on top of the more typical horror violence.
There is also, of course, a ridiculous amount of good old fashioned sex. Also, half-way through a fox talks.
The Worst Bit: There's plenty of moments to choose from, with the self-mutilation standing out, but the worst bit has to be the blood ejaculation. Chaos really does reign.
