10 Films All Hypochondriacs Should Avoid

4. Cujo: Pet Dogs Are A Doorway To Rabies

Rabies: for you it's a direct threat to your life that you encounter at least once a week when you go round your grandparents' house and avoid going anywhere near their old cranky dog. Strays on the street? Cross the road quickly. Any sign of dog-like behaviour at all is definitely a sign of rabies-infection. Cujo, another Stephen King adaptation, sees the decline in good-naturedness and a rise in monster-like behaviour in a comically giant St Bernard named Cujo, who contracts rabies when he chases a rabbit down a hole, which is full of rabies-carrying bats. The original novel describes Cujo's mentality as the rabies takes over his central nervous system, and the film does the book justice with its portrayal of the horrific attacks the dog undertakes on some of the film's characters (some more likeable than others). It's not particularly scary, nor too gory, but Cujo is sure to make every encounter you have with a dog become a thing of absolute nightmares.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
