10 Films All Hypochondriacs Should Avoid

5. The Stand: You Could Be Dead By Nightfall

This screen adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand documents the escape of a human-engineered variant of the Super Flu from a lab, which consequently wipes out most of the world's population. The film strikes uncomfortably close to historic flu outbreaks, such as the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918. Let's face it, you're pretty sure you've had Super Flu at least ten times already - or at least that's what you told your friends and family when you last had to reach for the tissues and aspirin. But The Stand takes the Super Flu to a whole other level, whereby characters wake up feeling fine in the morning but are dead by sunset - and not before experiencing some horrible debilitating symptoms in between. Considering how harshly you self-diagnose yourself at the slightest sign of a sniffle already, having the added pressure of possibly being dead by sunset playing on your mind is not something you should be welcoming into your life.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
