3. The Many Saints Of Newark

We're living through an era where every notable TV show from the late 1990s and even the early 2000s is coming back in one form or another. The persevering power of these phenomenons has always seen them in the discussion, but revivals like Twin Peaks: The Return, Deadwood: The Movie and The Many Saints of Newark have proven how keen executives are to capitalise on that cultural relevance.

The latter of those projects is particularly interesting. A prequel movie set in The Sopranos universe, the big screen adaptation is taking aim at the 1967 Newark Riots, a boiling pot of racial tensions and civil unrest. There's an all-star cast lined up (as well the original creators being on board to write), including Alessandro Nivola, Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta and Billy Magnussen.

Of course, younger versions of characters from The Sopranos will show up, including Tony Soprano, played by original actor James Gandolfini's son, Michael. The first batch of images showing the actor in character were revealed on Twitter, which is as official a look at the movie fans will get for a while, as it's not set to release until next September.
