10 Flaws Which Prevented Max: Fury Road From Being Perfect

8. More Of The Stilt People Would Have Been Nice

One of the many things which Mad Max: Fury Road does very well is world-building without being too intrusive. Heavy-handed opening voice overs aside, the film is rich in details which make the universe feel alive and lived in, from the props and set decorations through to the gestures and phrases spoken by the characters. One of the coolest moments when it comes to hinting at the wider world in which Mad Max: Fury Road is set comes during perhaps the only real moment of calm in the entire movie. When Max, Furiosa, Nux and the wives stop in the swampland a single shot reveals its inhabitants, stilt-walking figures wandering over the ground as they scavenge. Depicting them in such an enigmatic and brief moment was clearly intended to add yet another layer of intrigue to the Mad Max universe, but sometimes something is too cool to make so little of. While a sequence involving these mysterious people interacting with Max and his associates, a little more information would have been good.
