10 Forgotten 80s Slashers That Still Have Some Stabs Left In Them

3. The Burning (1981)

The Burning is about as straight-up slasher as you can get. Prank gone wrong, killer bides time, strike unsuspecting campers while they are camping, death and violence ensues. The Burning while not original is notable for the people involved in. Among the actors are Jason Alexander, Holly Hunter and Fischer Stevens. It was also the first film made by Miramax and co-written by Harvey and Bob Weinstein. Brad Grey, another writer on The Burning would go on to produce The Departed and The Sopranos. Tom Savini passed up Friday the 13th Part 2 to head up the special effects on slasher which was also banned in the UK particularly because of the scene involving a life raft, a group of campers and some very sharp shears. If you can make it through that scene you€™ll be treated to one of the rarest sights in slasher genre, a Final Boy.
