You'll want to make sure you've got an empty stomach before watching this movie, as failing to do so might leave you in a somewhat compromised position. This one gives you precisely what you paid for, as it's a disgusting, bloody and exhilarating time filled with some breathtaking (and stomach-churning) practical effects and surprisingly strong world-building.

The movie takes place in near-future Japan, in a world where people can sprout monstrous mutations, turning them into criminals called "Engineers". We follow Ruka, a revenge obsessed police officer who searches for her father's killer.

As a full-on exploitation film, you shouldn't go into this one expecting to be blown away by the story. With that being said, the leading character is filled with conflict and strong motives, making it easy to get invested in the narrative.

You'll see some horrifying things in this flick, and while it's designed to shock you, even the grossest moments make sense in the world it creates, making it seem well thought-out and enjoyable.

Some of the mutations will stick with you for days and haunt your nightmares, which is probably the feeling many readers are searching for, so give it a go.
