6. Steve Martin

Steve Martin is a legend, I still feel no shame in saying that I am a big fan; Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Parenthood are two of my favourite films, and The Jerk definitely holds up. However, anything post-1991 is absolute pants. The 90's were a fairly lean period post-Father of the Pride, though he was still a big enough star to recover, but what followed was nothing short of a disaster. His films since the turn of the millennium have left even his most devoted fans struggling to justify the price of admission, though somehow several of them have managed to make money, the most confusing of which being Cheaper by the Dozen and Bringing Down The House. His role as Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther and its inexplicable sequel serve as a sad reminder that he once had a stature akin to Peter Sellers. I believe that the good will outweigh the bad, but the more time goes by, the more I'm convinced that sadly Steve Martin will never be the comedic force that he used to be.
