10 Franchise Reboots That Were Better Than The Original

4. The MCU Spider-Man

When a third Spider-Man reboot was announced, it was far more exciting than it had any right to be - largely because it was suddenly under the umbrella of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sony barely let the series breathe after the turgid final instalment in the Tobey Maguire/Sam Raimi trilogy, with the rebooted series starring Andrew Garfield a mere five years later. And it was another origin story to boot!

After only the second movie in that misguided series, Sony announced a partnership with Marvel to bring Spidey to the MCU. As tiring as it was to reboot Spider-Man again, at least he would be in safe hands and joining the likes of Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.

And so it was, as 2017's Spider-Man Homecoming was awesome. It was the Spider-Man movie we'd waited decades to see. Sure, the Sam Raimi movies are still fun, but this was the real Spider-Man. No-one before captured the essence of the character like Tom Holland, and the world of the MCU helped usher in a new era of web-slinging. An era that will be around for many years to come.
