10 Franchise Reboots That Were Better Than The Original
2. The Planet Of The Apes Prequel Trilogy
The original Planet of the Apes is a timeless classic. It produced one of the most memorable moments in cinema history, as well as a plot that everyone knows. Amazingly, all five movies in the franchise released within five years, before the series completely disappeared in 1973. The four sequels range from mediocre to great, but it was a case of oversaturation.
2001 arrived and so did Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes remake, starring Mark Wahlberg. Now, the movie is not good but it's also not the complete disaster many have dubbed it in the years since. Regardless, it certainly didn't spawn a new run for the series and it once again went on hiatus.
Ten years later a prequel, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, released and was criminally underrated. The James Franco joint was a fantastic prequel to the original movies, with jaw-dropping CGI and a heartfelt plot. That perception completely changed when Dawn of the Planet of the Apes released, and blew everyone away.
The final instalment of the trilogy released in 2017 and cemented the rebooted Apes series as infinitely better than the original, and one of the best trilogies of all-time.
