When you’re making a series of films involving teenage actors, you’d expect them to play the odd prank on each other from time to time. However, you probably wouldn’t expect the older actors to behave in such a childish manner.

But this wasn’t the case during the filming of The Prisoner of Azkaban. With the help of director Alfonso Cuarón, Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman played a remarkably immature prank on Daniel Radcliffe.

During the sleeping-bag scene in the Great Hall, they decided to sneak a fart machine into Daniel’s sleeping bag. Then, in the midst of filming, Gambon activated the device as he walked and talked through the Great Hall. Rickman, meanwhile, couldn’t keep a straight face as a series of rude noises erupted from Daniel’s sleeping bag. Soon after, the entire room started laughing at Daniel's unfortunate situation.

In isolation, a fart machine in a sleeping bag is a rather pathetic source of comedy. But what makes this moment so funny is the fact it was engineered by a seasoned director and two of Britain’s most beloved actors.
