10 Futuristic Sci-Fi Movies That Now Take Place In The Past

3. Terminator Salvation

Blade Runner

By 2018 we were still waiting on another good Terminator movie, never mind the robot uprising and subsequent war against humanity that was depicted in Salvation. The only thing McG seemed to get right about the future was that very few people seem to be aware that Sam Worthington is still out there somewhere.

Salvation is arguably best remembered for Christian Bale's infamous tirade against director of photography Shane Hurlbut, which has absolutely nothing to do with the movie itself and is a pretty damning indictment of how forgettable the entire enterprise was, especially at a cost of $200m.

The first of three attempts in the space of a decade that tried to launch a new Terminator trilogy, Salvation came burdened with big expectations given that fans had wanted to see the war against the machines happen on the big screen since 1984, but in the end it was merely the latest in what would eventually become a long line of disappointing follow-ups to James Cameron's classic first two installments.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
