10 Gaping Plot-Holes Hollywood Thought You'd Miss

1. Why Doesn't Dr. Crowe Find It Weird That He Is Being Ignored? (The Sixth Sense)

The Sixth Sense is without question M. Night Shyamalan's best film (though these days, that's not exactly saying much), even if it is ultimately pretty overrated and hinges largely on an admittedly impressive plot twist. However, while a rewatch does reveal some interesting hints to the revelation that Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) has been dead for the entirety of the movie and just doesn't know it, poring over the details also reveals some bizarre logical leaps that are very nearly too ridiculous to overcome. Though the majority of the movie focuses on Crowe's relationship with troubled young boy Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osmont), he never gets even remotely suspicious that Cole is the only person in the world who will talk to him because, you know, he's dead and all. When you consider the silence he and his wife Anna (Olivia Williams) must have shared, it really gets unbearable to think that Crowe couldn't arrive at the conclusion or at least realise that something was wrong. It takes a whole lot of the viewer suspending their disbelief, or simply being so blindsided by the plot twist the first time they watch it that it's not until their second viewing that they realise how bone-headed it really is.
