4. Zack Snyder - Watchmen

Stereotype Zack Snyder all you want as a director of style-over-substance movies that don't engage the brain, but damn, did he put together a fantastic commentary package for the Watchmen Blu-ray or what?

This is one of the most diverse and clever commentaries out there; it begins with Snyder essentially walking onto the screen and explaining the procedure over the titles, that the film will essentially be intercut with chimings from him, various boxes containing soundbytes from the cast and crew, and perhaps most amazingly, on-the-fly comparisons between the film footage and the comic book panels.

What's clear above all else is that Snyder really put his heart into making a commentary that people would want to watch; given how visual his films are, that really makes sense.

He understands that few people will listen to an alternate audio track, but to make the experience a video presentation in of itself will certainly have widened the audience.
