10 Genuinely Awesome Scenes In Otherwise Awful Movies

5. Street Fighter - €œIt Was Tuesday€

Street Fighter

Street Fighter is a terrible movie, awful. However in recent years it has gained a reputation as one of those films that is so bad, it€™s funny. I€™ll admit it; I am one of these people. The mispronunciation of Ryu name, Guile€™s Belgian accent, bad writing and worse acting combine to create a memorably bad film and if you can set aside your common senesce, then things really can become so ridiculous that you just have to laugh. The true highlight of this film though, is the performance of Raul Julia as the villain M. Bison. Sadly Julia€™s health was in serious decline at this point and he would pass away not long after the completion of filming, despite this he still managed to out act everyone else in the film. He seemed to realise what kind of movie he was in and camped it up as best he could. The scene in which this stands out the best was when Chun-Li finally gets Bison alone, having been chasing him for years to avenge the murder of her father. Bison however tells her that he does not remember the killing and proceeds to say €œFor you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.€ This one moment solidifies Bison an undeniably evil; he is such a villain that destroying lives and villages is just like any other day of the week. Whilst visually the scene is still ridiculous with Bison in an odd robe and still wearing a hat, as well a campy set design, it does play as a fairly serious moment. The line is funny, there is no doubt but what it really does is establish Bison as a ruthless and believable dictator. Chun-Li is stood in front of him, the day he killed her father was the most important moment of her life and she spent most of it hunting him down, but Bison dismisses this as if it was nothing and with one line essentially tell Chun-Li that her entire life is pointless.
