10 Giant Movie Plot Holes That Everyone Chooses To Ignore

3. Indy's Incredible Underwater Lungs - Raiders Of The Lost Ark

The beginning of the end for evil archaeologist Belloq and his team of Nazis comes around two-thirds into Raiders Of The Lost Ark. With his ship intercepted by a German U-Boat, captain Katanga can only helplessly give up Marion Ravenwood and the Ark of the Covenant and pretend that Indiana Jones is dead, prompting Belloq and co. to leave and continue on their journey. Then Indy is spotted by Katanga, swimming over to and then latching himself onto the departing U-Boat, signalling the good doctor's intention to mess these guys up on arrival.

It's a true punch-the-air moment, which also happens to be the set-up for a ludicrous feat of endurance, as Indiana is about to make an impossible, hundreds of miles-long underwater trip clinging on to the outside of a submerged submarine. So how come everyone lets this one go?

That's easy: Raiders Of The Lost Ark portrays Indiana Jones as an action man capable of withstanding just about anything, even if he does take a beating along the way. It's still not possible he could have survived that journey, but shut-up, you don't see Harrison Ford judging you. Plus those Nazis need to die.
