7. The Not-So-Seamlesss Link To A New Hope - Star Wars: Rogue One

The latest Star Wars movie concludes with Darth Vader pursuing Princess Leia, who has just received the Death Star plans and warped off in an escape attempt.

It's a seemingly neat, tidy way to build a bridge between the prequel and sequel movies, except that the revelation that both Vader and Leia were present at a space battle where both attempted to obtain the plans makes a lot of A New Hope's opening dialogue ring awkwardly false.

Leia basically feeds Vader a lie about being on a diplomatic mission, futilely aware that he knows exactly what goes on, and so the whole exchange just feels a little "off" with our added knowledge, with them both talking as though they weren't in the same place like 10 minutes ago.

Even though fans might agree to hand-waive it given the generally positive reception to Rogue One's crazy finale, it still oddly misses the mark.
