10 Giant Plot-Holes You Didn’t Notice In 2016’s Biggest Movies

4. The Indestructible Enterprise - Star Trek Beyond

After the Enterprise's saucer section is lured to the planet Altamid, it's attacked, resulting in the vessel crash-landing to the ground.

Though the iconic ship is in no good state after this, even functionally destroyed, it actually should have basically disintegrated upon entering the planet's atmosphere, considering its size and lack of shields. Compared to that fate, the Enterprise's smoldering remains actually don't look that bad.

While for many movies this could be dismissed as a nitpick, considering how vocally nerdy the Trek fanbase is and how aware of this the filmmakers are (or at least should be), this qualifies as a straight-up plot hole regardless.
