10 Good Films With Bad Titles

8. Bridge Of Spies

Birds of Prey Harley Quinn
20th Century Fox

Bridge of Spies is a "capital D Drama". The Steven Spielberg film follows an American lawyer facilitating a prisoner exchange during the Cold War. Mark Rylance's portrayal of Rudolph Abel won him a well deserved Academy Award, and Spielberg is able to keep the audience hooked the whole time.

That said, when I sat down to see a film called Bridge of Spies, I expected more spies than I got. Able is arrested in the first scene of the film, before we see any of his espionage work. The only other spy in the film is an American pilot, shown briefly in a dogfight before he too is captured. With this title, Bridge of Spies implies more of a team-up style James Bond feel than a legal drama. While I still enjoyed the film, I felt cheated out of the spy action the title promised.
