10 Good Films With Bad Titles

7. Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America: The First Avenger introduces Steve Rogers, one of the most important characters in the MCU, in a dynamic standalone adventure. However, there's no reason to call movie The First Avenger aside from marketing The Avengers, which came out a year later. Steve and his world take center stage, but giving his first movie a subtitle makes it feel less like his film and more like a prequel.

Additionally, the MCU eventually changes the Avengers origin story so that someone else is first, not Steve. In Captain Marvel, we learn that Nick Fury instead names the team after Carol Danvers. He picks the name based on her call sign, Carol "Avenger" Danvers. He's been searching for a team of superheroes because of what she could do, not because of Captain America. If Steve isn't even the first Avenger canonically, there's no reason for that to be the name of his film.
