10 Good Films With Bad Titles
6. Rocketman
It's common practice for music biopics to name themselves after one of their subject's most famous works. Take, for instance, Bohemian Rhapsody, Walk the Line, and Get on Up. It's a great marketing strategy, reminding the audience why they loved the main character's music in the first place.
Rocketman is the best music biopic in years, but it's named after the wrong Elton John song. "Rocketman" underscores the fantastic nature of Elton. However, the film works best when it's exploring the human side of him. The finest moment comes at the end, when Elton confronts visions of everyone he hurt, and everyone who hurt him, and tells them to shove off, proving he is stronger without them. Taron Egerton breaks out into the finest musical number of the film with "I'm Still Standing," which should have been the title of the film in the first place. It's much more inspirational than "Rocketman," showing how Elton grows through his human relationships, rather than through the character he created for the stage.
