10 Good Horror Movies With Surprisingly Low Rotten Tomatoes Scores

7. Thirteen Ghosts - RT Score: 16%

The 2001 remake of 1960's Thirteen Ghosts did not deserve the treatment critics or audiences gave it.

A family finds themselves trapped inside a literal house of horrors, and must work together, along with an undercover psychic, to find an escape before the spirits within claim their souls.

There are a lot of things about Thirteen Ghosts that make it worthy of more praise than it gets. It tells a heartfelt tale of a family bonding together to overcome loss, has some of the most creative ghosts in all of cinema, and is just all around a good time. The movie however does have a secret weapon, one that on its own is enough to elevate its quality. That weapon is none other than Shaggy himself, Matthew Lillard.

If you can watch Matthew Lillard's acting in this movie and not want him to have his own prequel flick, then someone must have deeply hurt you at some point in your life. He goes all out here in a performance that, while over-the-top, has a genuine sense of sincere humanity to it. He doesn't nearly get enough credit, especially when it comes to Thirteen Ghosts. Give the guy, and the movie while you're at it, some respect.
