10 Good Movies That Completely Botched Their Final Act

4. Alien: Resurrection

Just look at that picture. What the actual hell?! What was Jean Pierre Jeunet, the French director of Amélie, of all films, and Joss Whedon who penned the screenplay, thinking?! It looks like they're about to kiss!!! As far as the positives go, Alien: Resurrection may be far from the best film in the Alien universe, but it's certainly not the worst (we have David Fincher to thank for that). Resurrection added an interesting premise to the fact that Sigourney Weaver's cloned Ripley now possessed xenomorph DNA. It was wacky, but fun and unpredictable. But then it seemed as if Whedon wanted to outdo himself with his unpredictability by delivering some crazy xenomorph human offspring, described by Brad Dourif's doctor as "a beautiful, beautiful butterfly." I don't know what butterflies you've seen, mate, but that sure in hell isn't a butterfly. The hybrid wasn't scary, it didn't look clever, it was just a bit weird and made you question what you were watching. It's death is brutal, but it still stinks as if it has been dreamt up by someone under the influence of crack. Still, at least it's better than its predecessor.
