10. The Usual Suspects (1995)
The Usual Suspects is a movie that, alongside The Sixth Sense, is often credited with having one of the most brilliant and shocking twist endings of all-time - even if you haven't seen the movie, you know about its twist ending, right? And if you didn't... well, sorry about that - the movie's almost twenty years old, c'mon. Anyway, aside from being hailed as a movie of twist-related genius, The Usual Suspects is also cited on a frequent basis as one of the greatest movies of all-time, too. Fair enough, but isn't that - in a way - just misdirected affection for its famed ending? The plot of Bryan Singer's crime classic is based around a massacre on a boat, and the interrogation of a small-time con-man in the aftermath, who relays a long and complicated story as to how it all went down to the cops. Don't get me wrong: The Usual Suspects is a good film. But the movie itself almost never surpasses being "just good" until its shocking ending, one which has helped to propel it into the pantheon of all-time awesome. Viewed a second time, though, and it's clear to see that the ending of The Usual Suspects is the trump card in a pretty good hand.
