10 Goriest Film Scenes Ever

3. Braindead - Lawnmower Scene

Before King Kong, The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit, Peter Jackson created Braindead - one of the goriest films ever created. The zombie exploitation film deserves the title too, because Braindead is utterly drenched in organs, dismembered limbs and pints of blood on a very frequent basis. While the film performed quite poorly upon its release in 1992, it later gained a massive cult following due to Jackson's rise to fame as the directer of the Rings trilogy.

The film tells the story of Lionel Cosgrove, a son with a domineering mother, and a love interest that she disapproves of. After Lionel's dear mother is bitten by a "Sumatran Rat-Monkey" and becomes a zombie, Lionel attempts to keep his mother hidden away at their family home, away from prying eyes. Except, things never work out as far as zombies are concerned; his mother escapes and turns a whole horde of people into zombies, just in time for the housewarming party Lionel is throwing.

As mayhem ensues, Lionel revs up a lawnmower, straps it around his shoulders, and gets stuck in - quite literally. What follows, is a five-minute-long scene of Lionel using said mower to continuously dice up the living dead, finally coming to a halt when the entire foyer of the house is covered in gore.
