Everything that the idealism of Valentines Day and suburban America attempts to gloss over is thrust into the limelight a loveless marriage, a disappointment of a daughter, a secret drug dealer and an abusive father.
Why is it anti-love? American Beauty questions why we even bother trying to conform to the norms of love and family it eventually turns into boredom, regret and loathing and may make you come on to your daughters best friend.
