10 Great British Horror Films Of The Last Decade
2. Prevenge
Alice Lowe has been on our screens since the cult classic TV show Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace all the way back in 2004. Since then you would have seen her in films like Hot Fuzz and Sightseers, but her 2016 directorial debut Prevenge (which she wrote, directed, and starred in) is simply an unforgettable horror with a hilariously twisted sense of humour.
The film follows the heavily pregnant Ruth who, after the sudden death of her partner during a climbing accident, becomes convinced that her unborn baby is encouraging her to kill the others involved in the accident.
The film is violent yet darkly funny, and by dark I mean pitch black, which is a unique concoction perfectly punctuated by the demise of DJ Dan (Tom Davis). Running a brisk eighty-nine minutes, Prevenge is a British film you should really give a chance.
Considering Lowe was actually pregnant during filming, it just goes to show how insanely talented she is.
