10 Great Characters Who Could Replace Marvel Movie Heroes (And Who Should Play Them)
3. David Haller (Legion)
The almost-forgotten son of Charles Xavier, Legion's not had the most heroic of pasts. His mutant ability manifested itself as countless multiple personalities, each with their own unique set of powers but at the cost of making poor young David kind of bonkers. As if being born with that hair wasn't bad enough. Seesawing from misunderstood hero to out-and-out villain in the comics, Legion is the kind of complex protagonist that would be fascinating to see up on screen, not to mention an infinitely superior replacement for the morally straight-laced Professor X. Hunger Games alum Josh Hutcherson would be ideal for the role; he's well-versed in mopey angst in high-tension environments and can easily elicit the pathos required for such a role. Plus he has something of a doomed quality about him, which is always good for morally ambiguous heroes.
