10 Great Comic Book Movies That Capture The Genre Perfectly

5. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

mary_elizabeth_winstead_ramona_flowers_scott_pilgrim_vs_the_world_021-600x322 Scott Pilgrim is a brilliant film that manages to completely honor its source material while also adding in new elements to make the story itself more interesting. The plot is a great deal of fun because, at its core, it's a well told love story while also being an exciting movie that's loaded with clever references and extremely well shot action scenes. The action scenes in Scott Pilgrim are superior in every way to just about any other action scene in any other comic book movie ever made because, not only are they superb and fun to watch, but also remain perfectly in step with their source material. Edgar Wright brings his usual frenetic visual style to the film which makes it feel like a real life videogame. It's the combination of wry characterization and overabundant visual splendor by Wright that make Scott Pilgrim enormously entertaining and a film that perfectly captured the comic book medium onto film.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
