Highest-Rated Movies: Evil Dead II (7.8) and Army Of Darkness (7.6)

Sam Raimi has had a long and varied career that's encompassed horror, comedy and comic-book movies, and given the sheer diversity of his filmography, it's surprising to note that he doesn't have a single film in the IMDB Top 250.

He's come very, very close - an 8.0 is all that's needed to land a spot - but he just hasn't been able to edge his way in there.

The director exploded onto the scene in 1981 with The Evil Dead, which established his affinity for dark, slightly gothic tales, and has since infused each of his films with a similar vibe and tone - remember that Doc Ock hospital scene in Spider-Man 2?

And then, in the early 2000s, his Spider-Man trilogy helped usher in the current golden age of comic-book movies, and his contributions to the genre - no matter how divisive Spider-Man 3 turned out to be - cannot be understated.

Speaking of Spidey, Raimi doesn't have a single Spider-Man film in his top four highest-rated movies on IMDB (the highest is Spider-Man in fifth place), which is shocking, considering these are by far his most popular works.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
