10 Great Films From 2015 You'll Never Watch Again (And Why)

3. Macbeth

Michael Fassbender gives a fierce performance as the title character in The Scottish Play, where he stars as a warrior determined to be king at any cost. He spills a lot of blood to reach his goal, with each death weighing heavier on his soul. The film is a full-blooded and gripping adaptation, which manages to stay faithful to the original text while keeping it fresh for a contemporary audience. Why You€™ll Never Watch It Again: Like the play the film is a gloomy affair that is all but guaranteed to depress the viewer. The film takes place in a hellish, muddy landscape where everybody is miserable and death is a way of life. The actors bring real depth to characters, as neither MacBeth nor Lady MacBeth are evil just for the sake of it. They€™ve been scarred by their losses €“ including the death of their child €“ and both Fassbender and Marion Cotillard portray those wounds. With this in mind the film needs to be watched in the right mindset, as it€™s far too grim to just throw on when people want to cheer themselves up.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
