Don't go in the woods alone. Better yet, just don't go in the woods at all.

The Last Broadcast follows a documentarian as he tracks the case of a film crew who were brutally murdered while searching for the Jersey Devil.

One year before the release of the now iconic Blair Witch Project, this underrated 1998 feature set the stage for countless movies in one of horror's most popular sub-genres. Combining mockumentary style filmmaking with more traditional found footage elements, The Last Broadcast is the type of creepy, captivating film that just doesn't seem to get made much anymore.

A huge part of what makes the movie so engaging and downright frightening is the way in which it uses its narrative to work as a commentary on today's true crime craze. The story does such a fantastic job at critiquing our modern fasciation with murder and mayhem that it feels almost prophetic. In a day and age where it seems people aren't just satisfied with being spectators anymore and want to be part of the story, whether it be through podcast or social media, The Last Broadcast reminds us that maybe it's best to just let some stories rest.
