10 Great Ghost Movies (No One Ever Talks About)
5. The Fog
Released in 1980, horror legend John Carpenter’s The Fog may be the best known film on this list.
And yes, it may be a little much to say no one ever talks about a movie which was popular enough to warrant a godawful PG-13 mid noughties remake.
That said, this film is the most underrated contribution to the horror genre that the director created in the eighties. Probably didn’t help that it was sandwiched between the archetypical slasher Halloween and greatest body horror in cinema history The Thing, mind you.
Set in a small spooky seaside town the eve of its anniversary, this creepy horror gave viewers pirate zombies as its memorable ghostly villain whilst the likes of Adrienne Barbeau and Jamie Lee Curtis played its likeable, resourceful heroines who try to save a small town's inhabitants from the revived vengeful monsters.
Filled with the dry wit and peerless suspense viewers expect from Carpenter, this fun, frightening rollercoaster ride deserves to be mentioned alongside the director's more critically adored contributions to the genre..
