Sticking with the comedy horror genre, this is a more controversial inclusion, as Gremlins is such a seminal classic that some people might feel is best left as it is. That said, if Ghostbusters can be done with an all female cast, surely Gremlins deserves a modern reboot. It was a surprise hit in 1984, became the fourth-highest grossing movie of that year and has remained popular ever since (although the single sequel it spawned didn't come close to emulating its success). There would undoubtedly be a huge audience for it, in spite of the potential doubts people might have, and another movie about a lovable mogwai being purchased, being exposed to sunlight and water and being fed after midnight, multiplying and transforming into mischievous little green monsters would go down a treat. Heck, they could even get Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante and Chris Columbus back on board to ensure nobody else makes a mess of it - it would be that big a deal, after all - and bringing it out as a Christmas movie this time around, given its Christmas setting, could be a great idea too.
