10 Great Moments In Otherwise Terrible Movies
3. Street Fighter - For Me It Was Tuesday
The Terrible Movie: Street Fighter is a film that spends most of its run time balancing on the line between so bad its good and just bad.
The writing is an incoherent mess and the plot was clearly built around finding an excuse to shove in as many characters from the games as possible. Said characters are also (nearly) all horribly miscast. Highlights include the All-American Guile played by the Belgian Jean-Claude Van Damme and the British assassin Cammie played by Kylie Minogue, who seems like she just wandered on to the set and no-one has the heart to tell her to leave.
The Great Moment: The one actor who stands out like a bright blazing star is Raúl Juliá as M. Bison. Despite suffering from stomach cancer at the time (which would sadly kill him soon afterwards), Juliá brought his best to the role and delivered a wonderfully hammy performance as the would-be world dictator (but not for evil).
The highlight is when Chun-Li confronts Bison (decked out in dressing gown) and reveals that he killed her father. He then responds with a genius bit of dialogue that is perfectly delivered by Juliá.
"For you, the day Bison graced your village, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday".
