Frank is a rabbit. Well, kind of. He's a delusion of a paranoid schizophrenic in the form of a rabbit. His interests include predicting the apocalypse, teaching teenagers about time travel, and creeping us right the fuck out. Frank isn't the most relevant character immediately, like some other figments and delusions in movies. However, his whole bizarre existence and purpose as it becomes clear is mind-blowing, making Frank a somewhat unforgettable lynch pin of Donnie Darko (2001). As Donnie (Jake Gyllenhaal) learns about time travel, it becomes clear that Frank is not some bizarre fantasy of his come to live, but a badly translated vision of the future. Although the nature of Frank is still debatable, ultimately. Fantasy? Delusion? or simply a vision of the future that foresaw someone's Halloween costume.
