10 Great Movie Duos Who Reunited And Made Garbage
7. Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Lawrence
The Good: Silver Linings Playbook
The Bad: Serena
Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper have now worked together on a few occasions, but they've not hit the heights of David O. Russell's sublime portrait of mental illness and romantic passion, Silver Linings Playbook by some distance. The pair are mesmerising together in the film, seguing from emotional volatility to vulnerability and never making victims or sideshows of their characters, despite their conditions.
Both are incredibly brave performances, too, and deserved the Oscar attention they picked up. Which makes the tepid reunion that followed in 2014, for Susanne Bier's Serena all the more unfortunate. Lawrence is actually on good form and Cooper isn't entirely terrible, but the writing is woeful and way too twisty and there's a general air of boredom that is a million miles away from Silver Linings Playbook.
It has way too many reasons for audiences not to see it and sadly they took them to heart, with the film only making $5m at the box office.
