10 Great Movie Franchises That Lost It By The End
4. Spider-Man (Sam Raimi Era)
Spider-Man has had a lot of starts and stops since Sam Raimi brought him to the big screen in 2002. That first film in his franchise was solid. There's also an argument to be made for the sequel to be considered one of the top comic book films of all time. Then, the third movie happened.
Legend has it that studio interference forced Raimi into combining the plots for the third and fourth movies into one overloaded film that became largely unwatchable. The third and final installment absolutely destroyed the franchise, creating something that totally misunderstood not only the source material but also everything that was built up in the first two movies.
There was no coming back for this version of Spider-Man and we were quickly given a reboot looking to bank on the brand but wipe away the sins of the threequel. Not that the subsequent films featuring Andrew Garfield was much better.
