3. Sho'Nuff, The Shogun of Harlem - The Last Dragon (1985)
God bless the late great Julius Carrey. He wasn't an extremely well-known actor, but he was a vibrant and entertaining performer and when he was hooked up with the right character it was geek gold. Most may remember him for his portrayal of Bruce Campbell's partner/rival, Lord Bowler, in the short-lived Adventures of Brisco County Jr., but the jewel in this actor's crown was Sho'Nuff, the self-proclaimed Shogun of Harlem in Berry Gordon's break-dancing martial arts masterpiece, The Last Dragon. The Last Dragon is one hell of a movie, but don't take my word for it; go check it out. Sho'Nuff is the villain of the piece, a fab dresser with a magnificent afro who roams about town destroying pizza joints, tackling random people and even dumping children into the garbage! He's got a posse that behaves like his own pep team. In one hilarious scene, Sho'Nuff starts a dialogue that goes like this "Am I the baddest mo-fo, low down, around this town?" to which his gang enthusiastically replies "Sho'Nuff!" Did I forget to mention that he also glows red when he goes into kung-fu mode and at one point demands that the hero get down and "kiss my converse!" Sho'Nuff is a great idea for a Halloween costume even if no one recognizes you. Some will get it and provide that exclamation above, but for everyone else you will likely just be seen as the ultimate manifestation of 80's kitsch, and would that really be so bad? The Converse, fro and shades are a must, the posse a good addition, but if you really want to go the full Shogun, outline yourself in red Christmas lights and become 'The Master'! Will it be a hit? Sho'nuff!
