7. "Make Him More Human" - Hellboy (2004)
Despite the very obvious notion that Hellboy is, in fact, an established comic book character (and one who is very clearly
not human), Hollywood executives became somewhat nervous about their 2004 Mike Mignola adaptation in its very early stages, and sought to fix their anxieties by trying to persuade director Guillermo del Toro to take Hellboy in a completely different direction: by making him human. Yep, it was Hollywood's big "creative" idea to remove Hellboy's demonic aspect and instead have the character as a regular human being who was, uh, born in Hell or something. Either that, or have Hellboy
transforming into his devil-like form akin the Hulk. Del Toro, already irked that the studio had ruined his film
Mimic through a number of ill-judged cuts, put his foot down and stopped the anarchy. And that - thankfully - was the end of that chapter.
