Sony Pictures ClassicsHouse Of Flying Daggers comes from a background and a genre that is traditionally well versed in the use of colour. Far eastern cinema and wuxia specifically uses colour much more effectively and with stronger purpose than western cinema as a generality. It is the strong cinematography of Zhao Xiaodong that separates House Of Flying Daggers from its contemporaries, as well being more of a love story as opposed to a straight martial arts film. House Of Flying Daggers is a hugely important cross over film from the east to the west, and it is certainly one worth rewatching as soon as you have a chance.
