10 Great Movies With Iconic Colour Palettes

7. The Lion King (1994)

DisneyDisneyThe Lion King is a film that needs little to no introduction. As a classic of the nineteen nineties and as one of the best Disney animated features ever presented, The Lion King is remarkable not only for the masterful work in the retelling of Othello, but also because colour was a primary design concern for the animators in the production process. As the first Disney feature length animation set solely in Africa, The Lion King needed to represent visually the savannah and jungles that cover the majority of the African continent. Combined with the vocal talents of Jeremy Irons, Matthew Broderick, Rowan Atkinson and James Earl Jones, The Lion King was the 32nd animated feature released by Disney and the defining Disney moment for a whole generation. It will surprise no one that it made this list of great films with incredible use of colour.
