Tig is a character undoubtedly respected by the rest of the sons.

However, he is also prone to being impulsive and resorting to violence at times when it is not necessary (a particular strain on his relationship with Jax). A setting where violence is not just necessary but actively encouraged is ice hockey - a brutal arena Kim Coates steps into with the 2011 sports comedy Goon.

Doug (Seann William Scott) is rejected by his highly intellectual family, but manages to find his calling when he joins a local hockey team as their enforcer - a role that is less about hockey and more about beating up opposing players. With his contribution, the team manages to climb the rankings and head towards the game of their lives.

Coates plays Ronnie, the coach of the team that Doug signs on to join. He is a no nonsense leader who doesn't allow his team to slack off for even a minute. Cursing his way through team talks and demeaning players is his idea of solid leadership. And thanks to Doug, it somehow gets through to them.

Coates is also known for his role as Declan Gardiner in the TV series Bad Blood.
