10 Great Movies Starring The Cast Of Dexter
6. The Neon Demon - Desmond Harrington (Joey Quinn)
Only God Forgives cut critics right down the middle, proving Nicholas Winding Refn's work has an acquired taste. But if you enjoy a narrative that goes out of its way to make you feel uncomfortable, Refn's psychological thriller, The Neon Demon, is a must watch.
The story follows a 16-year-old aspiring model called Jesse whose life changes forever after entering the fashion world. As she begins her journey, Jesse encounters a photographer, Jack, portrayed by Desmond Harrington. He's not in the film much but plays a pivotal role in Jesse's rise and fall as a model. Because of her non-manufactured beauty, Jesse plows through the fashion industry and becomes an icon, inspiring her competition to band together and put a stop to her career.
Even though The Neon Demon starts off as a cautionary tale about the dangers of success and vanity, it descends into a visceral and ballsy horror. For some, it may be too indulgent and shocking. But if you prefer experimental thrillers that don't spoon-feed their audience, you might regard The Neon Demon as Refn's best movie.
Also, it stars Keanu Reeves. That's always a plus.
