7. The Expendables - David Zayas (Angel Batista)
Since the 1980s, cinema has been bombarded by a plethora of musclebound action heroes like Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. So, when Sly Stallone decided to round up the biggest action stars for one movie to serve as an ode to classic blockbusters, fans couldn't wait.
In The Expendables, Barney Ross, (Sylvester Stallone) tracks down his old mercenary squad to take down a dictator. The movie is cheesy as hell and has too many one-liners to count but we all know that's what we were getting when we went into it.
With so many A-list megastars, it's easy to forget there's a few solid performances, including from David Zayas, who portrays the antagonist, General Garza. Since viewers are used to seeing Zayas as the good-natured and witty Angel Batista in Dexter, it's quite jarring to see him depicting an irredeemable tyrant with such menace.
The Expendables is far from perfect but anyone who loves classic 1980s action-packed films such as Die Hard and Predator (which is anyone) is bound to enjoy it.
