10 Great Movies Starring The Cast Of Dexter
5. Twilight Zone: The Movie - John Lithgow (Arthur Mitchell AKA Trinity)
The Twilight Zone is such a beloved anthology series, it's baffling it took so long before it was adapted for the big screen. Sadly, the 1983 film was let down by an inconsistent tone and several disappointing premises.
However, the movie had the perfect climax since the final story is a remake of the classic episode, Nightmare at 20,000ft. This segment centres around John Valentine (John Lithgow) who, being a nervous flyer, does all her can to stay calm during a turbulent flight. As he's starts to settle, he notices a gremlin on the plane's wing is tearing the engine apart. Because nobody believes him, Valentine has to take matters into his own hands to stop the gremlin from crashing the plane.
Even though this segment is directed masterfully by George Miller and the gremlin's appearance is suitably haunting, it's Lithgow phenomenal performance that stands out. Lithgow completely sells his character's hysteria, which heightens the tension of the entire story. It was risky to remake The Twilight Zone's most iconic episode but Lithgow ensures this version surpasses it on every level.
