10 Great Movies Starring The Cast Of Dexter
2. The Report - Michael C. Hall (Dexter Morgan)
The Report tells the true story of a US government staffer, Daniel Jones, who uncovered a 6,700 page-document that detailed how the CIA tasked their workers with torturing terrorist suspects after 9/11. Not only did this report prove this horrific torture system was ineffective but the staff was aware of this before the program was created.
The Report has a lot of recognisable faces including Adam Driver, Jon Hamm, Tim Blake Nelson, Annette Bening, Corey Stoll, and many others. Most of these actors have minor roles and yet, each of them are on top-form. Michael C. Hall is no different, giving a solid performance as Thomas Eastman. His character's job is to help rebrand the detention program as more acceptable to the public by referring to it as a 'new interrogation style' rather than a 'torture operation'.
Hall's performance is bland and apathetic but that's sort of the idea. When his superior discusses the most effective ways to strangle and waterboard prisoners, he doesn't bat an eyelid, proving he's deadened to the callousness of the establishment. He may not hack his victims like Dexter but Hall's character in this film is a true monster.
