3. Happythankyoumoreplease (2010) - Josh Radnor

Before Liberal Arts, Josh Radnor starred in his directorial debut, happythankyoumoreplease, a moving romantic drama about a group of people who confront their lives and attempt - with varying results - to balance the love, friendships and obstacles that come with it.

Radnor stars as Sam Wexler, a writer who forms a bond with an orphan called Rasheen (Michael Algieri) after the child is abandoned in New York. The film also tells the story of Annie (a striking Malin Akerman), Sam's best friend who has alopecia, and Mississippi (Kate Mara), a singer trying to make her mark on New York.

A slice of life drama, happythankyoumoreplease shows Radnor to be a committed filmmaker and performer, as well as allowing Akerman, Mara and supporting stars Richard Jenkins and Zoe Kazan get big moments to shine. On top of that, it has a killer soundtrack and ends on a tender, compelling note that showcases Radnor's abilities as a screenwriter.
